Description du poste

The Industrial Architect organisation is growing as we ramp up activities towards the prepare the future industrial system for Airbus Commercial. Within the Propulsion Industrial Architects team we support a range of industrial and co-design projects from R&T, pre-serial production, serial production and DDMS.

In terms of scope, Propulsion Industrial Architecture comprises conventional propulsion domains of pylon, engine integration, nacelle and podding and also the industrialisation of zero emission propulsion technologies.

The Industrial Architect is expected to lead the co-design activity throughout the product life-cycle which results in a wide variety of projects and activities from early stage technology development and integration (eg Propulsion of Tomorrow and New Green Aircraft) through to design and development of a new manufacturing facility (eg NIS Podding).

A key aim of our team is to apply a systematic and data driven approach to industrial system design using Requirements Management and Systems Engineering to ensure robust V&V and right first time solutions.

Wherever possible we seek out and adopt new digital methods to enhance the quality and efficiency of our work. The Propulsion Industrial Architects team is to grow in size to ensure we have the skills and competencies needed to co-design future products. There are current vacancies within conventional propulsion and zero emissions propulsion projects - Propulsion of Tomorrow and New Green Aircraft respectively.

We are looking for candidates with a solid manufacturing engineering or operations background and with specific knowledge of part or all of the Propulsion domain. We are interested in candidates with a natural confidence to challenge established norms and seek new and innovative solutions. Ability to communicate ideas, negotiate technical solutions and influence stakeholders are key attributes of the Industrial Architect.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

● Lead co-design activities with colleagues from Industrial and Engineering to define the optimum overall product and industrial system solution. This includes trade study analysis, technology selection, influence the product architecture, define the build concept and industrial V&V.

● This activity needs to embrace all the latest intelligence on future factory, automation and lean line design to ensure the most competitive solutions are chosen

● Lead the demonstration of industrial system performance using a combination of physical and digital validation tools

● Align with Plants, R&T and Engineering to ensure that the industrial strategy is consistent and aligned with product strategy and technology roadmaps

This role will require from time to time travel for short business trips.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

● Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Production Operations or a related discipline.

● Manufacturing Engineering process knowledge for composites and/or hard metal manufacture (3-5yrs)

● Experience of assembly operations (1yr)

● Experience of the engine, nacelle or pylon design attributes (3-5yrs)

● Experience of the shop floor environment (1yr)

● Experience of the design office environment (1yr)

● Skill 1 - Manufacturing engineering

● Skill 2 - Systems Engineering approach to problem solving

● Skill 3 - Influencing others

● Language Skills - fluent English is required. French is an advantage.
